A 14 page PDF document for teachers or students.

This document is not a pre pointe assessment guide. Different teachers and studios have their own assessment process to help decide who can or can't go en pointe.

The purpose of this document is to help give you an understanding of the importance of the pre pointe process and provide you with the tools to help to gain strength in this area in order to prepare for a pre pointe assessment.

There are many factors that ensure a dancer is strong enough for pointe work including age and development (at both ends of the spectrum as menopause and affect bone strength.)

This guide will focus on exercises to help you improve:

  • Core and posture
  • Ankle alignment
  • Toe strength
  • Feet articulation
  • Ankle strength and stability
  • Lower leg strength
  • Balance and Proprioception
  • Hip flexor strength
  • Turnout
  • Back strength
